This paper explores green scheduling and how implementing advanced planning and scheduling (APS) techniques significantly reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for direct manufacturing operations across various industries. Additionally, we analyze a permutation flow shop (PFS) scheduling problem case to minimize total carbon emissions and optimize scheduling performance. We also show how an algorithm can contribute to reducing CO2 footprints.
Ultimately, we introduce Opcenter™ APS software, the Siemens Digital Industries Software solution for manufacturing operation planning and scheduling, and illustrate how you can successfully adopt it to implement this algorithm and operationally reduce your manufacturing facility’s CO2 footprint. Opcenter is part of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform of software, hardware and services.
